Election Day

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling,, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. 2 Timothy 1:9

Today is election day is it?

No, that would be true of politics, in which I have no interest. But this election took place before the world was made. The only One who voted was God. He had a large slate of candidates and they all won. The Devil would like to impeach them, but he can't, although he does try to ruin their reputations by involving them in all kinds of scandals.

Did He vote for everyone?

Oh, no, in fact His is the minority party, but there are still a lot of them.

Did He vote for the rich and good?

No, curiously, He voted for many who never were rich, and some of them were terrible sinners, but He chose them anyway.

So, since God chose His people before the world was made, I guess they are in power right now?

Many of them think they should be and are trying to run the world. But the Devil's party are still in office until their term is up, which it soon will be.

It's quite hard for many to understand, but we must wait for Inauguration Day. The election is over, but Satan won't relinquish his power without a fight. He is what is called a Lame Duck though, and soon will be out of office and put into prison.

I never thought that politics could be so interesting.

This is not really politics. It is about a great King choosing His subjects. Someday we will rule with Him, when the struggle for power is over. The King's term of office is eternal, so our jobs will be secure.
