Jacob's Trouble--No Day is Like It

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. Jeremiah 30:7

If we were asked which are the greatest days of trouble in the Bible, the flood would come to mind. Yet Jeremiah and Jesus speak of a time like no other time. Unlike the flood where an ark with eight people and a huge number of animals survived, without the intervention of God, in this day no flesh would be saved alive.

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Matthew 24:21,22

For the elect's sake. What a beautiful thought. At any time there are those that are the elect. These are people who have been chosen by God. There are even elect angels, who will not fall (1 Timothy 5:21).

The church is being tested now. Jacob's day of testing is yet to come. But he shall be saved out of it.
