Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come.
Daniel 10:20
The title refers to a term used in various occult religions such as Gnosticism, Rosecrucianism, for example. Please bear with me as I "recycle" it to describe how governments rise and fall. Of course this refers to a higher level than squabbles between Democrats and Republicans.
The battle is in the heavenlies, far beyond the earth. The combatants are the angels Gabriel, Michael, and Satan. Warfare can't be more epic than this. Governments do not fall because of bad fiscal policies or poor administration. Changes are the result of far greater forces.
In this case, Greece replacing Persia is a fulfillment of the second chapter of this wonderful book. Daniel was shown in advance, the succession of nations that would dominate Israel and most of the world. There was no advice given on how to alter things. It was what was to be.
Our egos may be crushed to learn that we may determine mayors and sheriffs, but empires are in the hands of God and his angels. The destruction of them will be also, and the restoration of Israel when the "times of the Gentiles" is complete.
