He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth. Acts 8:32
They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! Revelation 6:16
Could there be a greater contrast than between these two portrayals of Christ? As Christians, we know the Lord in both portrayals, though it may seem more appropriate to picture him as a lion in this judgement. What I find so revealing in the Revelation passage is that He will appear as a wrathful lamb to unbelievers in the Last Days.
Please forgive me if I cite the movie "Crocodile Dundee" as an illustration of what will happen. I do not want to be disrespectful or trivial, but you know how my mind jumps around.
In the film, a group of drunken hunters, using lights, slaughter kangaroos. The protagonist, creeps behind the body of a dead animal with his rifle, lifts the animal as if it were firing back at the hunters. He shoots out the hunters' lights and they flee in terror. It is as if the slaughtered come alive to take vengeance.
But this is just what our Lord will do! I think of all the innocent who have died throughout the ages. Jesus will avenge himself on the wicked some day. In the likeness of a lamb He was killed, and in the likeness of a lamb He will have revenge.
