My cousin recently tried to join a Lutheran church. They would not let her join. We should remember that when we join a church (or try to) that we are dealing with a corporation, which despite its protestations, is designed to serve itself.
There are no such churches in the Bible, nor are there bishops or popes. The word "bishop" in God's Word is in reality the presiding officer of one church. Churches are independent of one another in the Scriptures, not run as collective businesses. It is axiomatic that with power comes corruption. Eventually, the so-called laity loses control and big shots take over.
A local, independent church would have accepted my cousin. She is a sweet, hard working person, looking for a church home. That this one rejected her is really a good thing for her.
