And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched. Mark 9:43
There is absolutely nothing that the promoters of hell will not do to maintain their devotion to this doctrine, including deliberately misquoting our Lord. It is not a slip up or an honest mistake when translators substitute "hell" for geena, which is what Jesus actually said in the quotation above.
Jesus uses other words also that are translated "hell". When you look up the actual words that Jesus said in any annotated Bible you will know more than 90% of slavish, unthinking preachers and their lazy, ignorant followers.
You will be shunned when you do this. Not because you have misquoted Jesus, but because you have questioned and corrected the King James and other errant translations.
To the great majority, the words of Jesus are not as important as pagan doctrines. So guess which one wins in the hearts and minds of most preachers and their congregations? It is Roman Catholic doctrine first, and the words of Jesus second.
But, armed with any study Bible (any translation), you will beat them all. Are you ready to be shunned and mocked for clinging to the words that Jesus uttered?
I am a fundamentalist. I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, but not in the perverted translations where paganism is set forth.
As to a place where worms do not die, it must mean the immortal souls of worms do not die. Either that or Jesus meant genna, just as He said.
