Fire from Heaven

And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. Revelation 13:13

They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. Revelation 20:9

He who scorches last scorches best. Mr. 13:13 performs wonders, no doubt about that. But he is another temporary menace, whose rule is limited to the second half of Daniel's seventieth week--Daniel 9:24-27, a period of 3-1/2 years. We Christians will be in heaven by then, fulfilling the promise of Jesus in Revelation 3:10 to save us from this time of tribulation for earth dwellers.

Sometimes we focus on trouble. There is plenty of that in the Bible, but we neglect God's remedies. In this case--payback time--He burns all evil from the Earth, forever. For those reluctant to read about the agony ahead, this is such good news. For the defense of His people, and for the sake of His glory, God will not "turn the other cheek".
